Register for SOPHE’s 2022 Student Health Edu-Thon digital competition to be held on March 21 - 22, 2022 during the SOPHE 2022 Annual Conference. Graduate and undergraduate health education student teams will compete in presenting a response to a challenging scenario that demonstrates their health education specialist competencies, uses of technology, and emerging methodologies. Team registration is $50.

Each member of the first-place teams will be provided a cash prize of $150, a SOPHE award certificate and publicity, and opportunity to present their innovative winning approach on a future SOPHE webinar. 

Terms And Conditions

I understand if my team is selected to compete:

• Student teams agree to present in front of a panel of judges without outside assistance.

• Student teams and their faculty mentors (no one else will enter the room, except for the judges and SOPHE supports) will digitally attend the SOPHE Student Health Edu-Thon on either March 21 - March 22, 2022. Schedules will be released to indicate the day/time slot for the team’s presentation. Additionally, all teams will digitally attend the SOPHE 2022 Awards Ceremony presentation on Thursday, March 24, 2022. (Conference registration is not required).

• One faculty mentor will serve to inspire their student team to grow as health educators and ensure that the team completes their presentation. Faculty mentors may watch the student presentation. They may NOT assist the students during the presentation or Q&A.

• Upon MySOPHE registration form submission, the team's faculty mentor (“sponsor”) must pay the $50 registration fee to secure the team’s spot by February 10, 2022. Teams with a late registration payment will forfeit their registration. 

• Teams are accepted on a first-come basis.

• Contact information for the faculty mentor and students must be confirmed by registration close. If your team modifies its roster before the deadline, please contact info@sophe.org

• Competition registration will include an opportunity for each student to opt-in to receive communications from Student Health Edu-Thon sponsors. 

• Each institution/university may register one graduate team and one undergraduate team.

• Up to 6 graduate teams (groups of 2-3 students) and 12 undergraduate teams (groups of 3-4 students) will be accepted. 

• Conference registration is not required to participate in the competition. All who plan to attend the conference are encouraged to register by January 31, 2022 which is the deadline for the conference early-bird rate and the competition registration . • If the online registration form is cancelled within 30 days of the competition, the school registered will not be able to participate in the 2023 SOPHE Student Health Edu-Thon.

• At four (4) weeks prior to the competition (February 22, 2022), faculty mentors will be provided all event materials (i.e. public health education prompt, judging criteria, instructions, procedures, event schedule) to share with their student teams. The instructions will describe important details for preparing the student presentations and the role of the faculty mentor. 

• Judges and teams will be invited to an informational call to review the event materials.
